Day 14 Troon to Ardrishaig for the Crinan Canal

Troon marina last night
After two very restful days in Troon catching up on housekeeping and a cycle trip to Alloway to see the house we bought in 1976, we left Troon under an overcast sky. There was a light breeze and we put up the sails and motor sailed through Loch Fyne up to Ardrishaig. We waited almost an hour to enter the sea lock. Once in the lock we rose over two metres to the level of the basin for the Crinan Canal. We shall stay here tonight and start along the canal tomorrow. Unlike the Caledonian Canal where all the locks are opened and closed for you, we have to do this ourselves on the Crinan. It will be quite an exercise with just two of us, but we are hoping for some help from the Crinan staff.
Waiting to exit from the sea lock, Two forty foot boats were quite tight
This the first time Soleis has experienced fresh water. We now sit 20cm lower in the water and we shall need to check for weed in the filters.
The first lock we must enter tomorrow
