Day 11 - Ardglass and Strangford Lough finishing at Portaferry.

Local knowledge indicated that a 9am departure would put us in a position to enter the Lough on the beginning of the flood tide. This certainly proved correct and we surfed out way up towards the narrowest part between Strangford and Portaferry at speeds up to 13kts.

After the warmth and sunshine of the previous day we now had low cloud, a slight south easterly wind and eventually rain. The rain held off almost until our arrival at Portaferry. We arrived just in time to erect the cockpit tent before the heavy rain began.

I don't think the lough was able to show itself to its best advantage in the overcast that we experienced, There are numerous attractions shown ashore on the visitors map and I would think canoeing amongst its many islands would be the best way to experience it.
